Introduction of Kobuse Crucible Steel Katana:
- The blade is handmade using the ancient sword forging method. And the structure of it is kobuse, which can enhance the toughness of the blade and make the blade more difficult to break. It’s fully hand forged and fully hand polished.
-The blade is made of our self-improved steel, differentially hardened and clay-tempered, water-quenched, and with a hardness of about 56HRC.
- This blade has been tested to cut through everything that gets in its way. For example, it can cut tatami mats easily. Sori (blade curvature) is specifically designed to create leverage to perform the smoothest, cleanest cuts.
- The real hamon pattern is made in the same process as the traditional method. Edge hardening mothed is wrapping the back of the blade with special clay and exposing the edge, heating it to a certain temperature, and then quenching it in water. This step is very demanding for craftsmen, it is difficult to succeed without much experience. It is this process that creates the beautiful hamon. A special clay protects the back of the blade, and varying degrees of hardening of the blade cause the blade to bend, resulting in a perfect sori.
- This sword is made of yasurime. And tsuka is completely handmade according to nakago, so the cross section is very neat and there is no burrs. There is a mekugi on tsuka and the edges are rounded. The rayskin used in tsuka is large particle rayskin, which is very expensive. The ito is silk imported from Japan, and it’s wrapped as the method of tatatemaki. For the end knots of the ito, we make it professionally to prevent uneven surfaces and bumps.
Fittings:
The tsuba of the sword is made of high-quality iron. After the handwork trimming, it is very smooth and rounded. It’s surface is treated with high temperature cooking, making the color firmer and not easy to fade , and has anti-rust effect.
Fuchi&kashira are made of high quality brass, and the cow hair pattern is designed by ourselves. The surface is made by traditional blackening process.
The habaki is made of copper, and it’s one piece structure. The surface has handmade yoji texture to increase the force of friction when it’s in the saya. As the picture shows you can see, the tsuba and habaki are very suitable with the blade.
Two red copper seppas fix the tsuba at the appropriate place, providing buffering function while cutting.
